So today will be going over what is Keto… Keto is short for Ketogenic a way of eating that has been around for centuries. The exact definition is ” The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, adequate-protein, low-carbohydrate diet that in medicine is used primarily to treat difficult-to-control (refractory) epilepsy in children. The diet forces the body to burn fats rather than carbohydrates.” And that previous sentence is the key!! you will burn fat instead of Carbs 🙂 Some say this way of eating can help reverse or control diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure, and a whole lot of other diseases. It will actually give you tons of energy you will be less hungry, and gain tons of self esteem!! I wouldn’t think of Keto as a diet but a life style change, because it truly is a new way of eating. If you look at as a diet, your setting up yourself up for failure as most diets do.
So what will you be eating you ask? Well you will be eating lots of food the best way I describe it would be, before you put something in your mouth is it the way that our caveman ancestors would eat? If not, you probably shouldn’t eat it. Its going back to eating in its most simplest form, or clean eating as its called now a days. You will be having plenty of healthy fat, such as real butter yes I said real butter you read that correctly. You’ll also have other fats such as olive oil, meat fats ext… You will be having protein in moderation, oh yea I also forgot to mention bacon we cant forget that can we. Who doesn’t love bacon and eggs for breakfast? Because you can eat that with this lifestyle. You can also have cheese, creams ext. You will also be eating some carbs, very little in the beginning if at possible keep it at or below 20grams a day of complex carbs, such as asparagus, broccoli, a variety of lettuce and so forth.
